Chapter 1
Part 1
10:00 am
Sunny
Man, I can’t get nothing from this street…
My boss is going to kill me after he finds out I…
That’s a fine piece of rump…
I have to get home before my wife finds those panties…
Thoughts, idea’s, memories. All of them were rather boring and mediocre to the dark haired woman. Nothing of the likes she as looking for, no sucker to play or cheap scum bag she could play her way into getting a free meal. Sure she had money, but it was dwindling fast and the more she was able to use another, the more she saved her credits. The hustle of the crowded streets was making it hard for her to focus on one particular subject. Too many minds going at once and hers going only so fast, it was making her head spin with the need to catch up. Her eyes scanned the crowds instead for the hundredth time that morning, her 2nd cup of black coffee was starting to get cold and she was sure the waiter was catching on as well that there was no other table guest she was waiting for. His mind was a lot sharper than most and even placing a thought or two wouldn’t keep him from her for long.
Bright blue eyes combed the street from her café table outside. Still nothing viable, and this was supposed to be the better side of town? Gimme a break. Anyone who has passed her by have all been too poor to feed a dog let alone her to mooch off of. At least mooching was better than mugging, and those thoughts weren’t really possible in this town. A sleazy girl looking for a gold digger wasn’t punishable by law, so this charade would be safer to stick with. She could street perform, but that would be a higher risk to herself. They didn’t do so well no matter how well they behaved. Damn, she needed her luck to change.
“Heya darling, still no show? Jerk seems to be standing you up.”
The cute little blond curls on the kid made her cringe inwards. A man shouldn’t be cute, but then he had this boyish look to him that made Kaiya re-framed from touching his mind. He looked too much like … someone she knew.
She offered a weak smile and cupped both her hands around the mug. “Seems like you’re right. I suppose I should call it quits, how much do I owe you?” She resisted the urge to plant a thought about letting her have the coffee for free. She could afford this at least, but was surprised when the boy shook his head. Curls bouncing with the force and a crinkle in his left eye from his kid like smile.
“Nah, it’s on the house. Think of it as making up for that jerk standing you up.” His good natured response gave her a slight hesitation to what she was going to do next. Her mind reached out to his just as he went to return back to work.Ask her to dinner, she looks lonely. It’s only dinner right? To cheer her up.
He paused.
“You’re right, he is a jerk… But thank you very much for the coffee.” She stood to leave, dusting off her beige knit sweater. Come on, ask me out already. She lingered only as long as she could without seeming like she was expecting him to take up her offer. She sighed heavily, realizing her push hadn’t taken and turned to leave.
“I’ll see you around-“
“No wait… Uh… wh-what are you doing later?” a blush had crept up to his cheeks. His waiter tray hugged tightly to his chest in anticipation. Very cute like…
Could she? Of course she could, and should wasn’t even considered. It was more, would she… It was disgusting to look at this kid and try to tolerate it past everything she knew would hurt her in the end. She buried the past long ago but still… this seemed too fresh. Just under the surface of how she left them to die. Was it guilt? Staring into those green eyes she felt a flicker of recognition and hastily swept it away. She needed to survive, no matter who was in the way. She made that promise to herself, but Karma had a way of coming back to someone who played with innocents. But was he innocent?
She offered him a smile before she answered and delve into his mind. She had to make sure. The thick ooze of his under core self was like slim coated worms. Thoughts of everything but a ‘nice’ time were running through the blond’s head. He was as good an actor as she was, only thing was how he managed to stay under the radar? Creeps like him didn't stay on the streets for long. At least now she would make sure of it. The Force was slacking on this one.
The more she dove inside the more she felt reassured she could take advantage of him. He was only adorable to his victims.
She offered a shrug and a flirtatious smile, giving her hair the little flip over her shoulder.“Nothing really… Only plans for a night alone. Nothing special. Why you offering?”
His smile turned upwards, and for a brief moment, she caught the sickness in the gleam of his white teeth. Oh yes, she could do this. Her good deed for the day would ensure her good luck.
