CHAMELEON V9.4: AURRIE
CHAOS
What I love most about rivers is:
You can't step in the same river twice
The water's always changing, always flowing
But people, I guess, can't live like that
We all must pay a price
To be safe, we lose our chance of ever knowing
What's around the riverbend
Waiting just around the riverbend.
Should I choose the smoothest course
Steady as the beating drum?
Is all my dreaming at an end?
Or do you still wait for me, Dream Giver
Just around the riverbend?
You can't step in the same river twice
The water's always changing, always flowing
But people, I guess, can't live like that
We all must pay a price
To be safe, we lose our chance of ever knowing
What's around the riverbend
Waiting just around the riverbend.
Should I choose the smoothest course
Steady as the beating drum?
Is all my dreaming at an end?
Or do you still wait for me, Dream Giver
Just around the riverbend?

~Name: Chameleon V9.4, previously Aurrie ("Are-E") Cantanya
~Title: Aengel, General of the Galactic Warriors of Jiala
~Nicknames: RoboGeneral, Aurrie, Chameleon, The Master of Disguise, 9.4, Cham(pronounced like Cam)
~Age: Designed approximately 14,000 years ago
~Gender: Female
~Race: Jialan, except for the fact that over half of her is bionic. She was basically designed with mechanical parts that would grow as she did. These parts would keep her alive basically forever, and she would only age to her mid-twenties, when the artificial parts were done growing. She is not really much of a Jialan anymore, aside from her brain which was enhanced during the procedure, allowing her to use seventy percent of her brain. Jialans can typically only use around thirty-five perfect of their brain capacity. This is still much more than normal humans.
The people of Jiala are human-like in appearance, simply with the basic bone-structure. However, they grow taller, the average height for men is 6’3”, and the average for women is 6’. Their skin is tough, and they have less blood, so bleed less when their skin is penetrated. Body hair grows only on their heads, and males are known not to grow facial hair. Their hair, skin, and eye color changes frequently, and they are aware of the change. Some train themselves to be able to change each willingly. It is similar to learning to wiggle one’s ears or raise one eyebrow, or even learning to wink.
From birth, they are trained in science and politics as well as Intergalactic Business. Jialans are raised to be perfect diplomats, and they will always try talking things out before leaping into battle. They are also innovators; most of the population will spend their lives inventing new technology. What they lack in strength, they make up for in speed and intimidation, as well as the science to live forever.
Jialans do not have many strong attack powers, but the ones they study are incredibly deadly. However, in order to have any abilities requiring ki energy, a Jialan must undergo incredibly painful surgery to have several small orbs implanted down their spine. This is the only way they can harness enough energy to train their powers, as they are weak creatures normally. Due to the risk involved, there are indescribable tests that one must pass before having the surgery.
~Planet of Origin: Jiala
~Sexuality: Honestly, for her it depends on how attractive someone is, but she is usually more attracted to males, just because of her innate desire to reproduce.
~Reputation: Chameleon is known to be extremely obedient. But as much as she is loyal, she enjoys leading. This is a skill she picked up in several hundred years of schooling. A lot of people avoid her colorful personality, as she is always trying to force people into things, and she tends to come off as a know-it-all. Her taken name comes from another reputation as a chameleon. Excellent at disguising herself, her appearance is constantly changing. She is considered a Master of Disguise.
~Specialty: Disguise, politics, leadership, escape, ranged combat
~Reason for Exile: She was framed as a traitor during a rare battle with a neighboring planet. It was tragic, as they asked her to give up her position of General and live in exile, never to return to Jiala. Death would have been easier. And Chameleon tried, but even she was not sure how to kill herself. She left her home base, eventually finding the Eyrie.
~Former Life: Chameleon has been alive for a very long time, but it never feels like long enough. Her former life is filled with various events. Most of it was spent learning, training, learning, surgery, more training. For a few thousand years, she was the head of a great army of technologically empowered Jialans. Those people were her family. Her old family died long ago, naturally, just of age. It is the only problem with living so long; she must watch those closest to her die. An extremely wealthy citizen of Jiala, she spent her life perfecting several abilities.
~In Combat~
~POWERS:
Minion – The key to being a great leader is the ability to make people believe in you. What better way of doing that than to be capable of changing one’s thoughts to what you want them to believe. This is a simple skill, and Chameleon can force it upon anyone with a weaker mind. With her ability to use seventy percent of her brain, this is certainly not a problem for her. As General of Jiala’s Galactic Warriors, 9.4 obviously perfected this technique. It was very important for her to learn, and she definitely uses this often. Of course, she is too nice to use it for anything too bad, but it certainly could be used for worse.
Master of Disguise – The name Chameleon was not given to her at birth. She did have a name before that, but she cannot remember, it has been so long. Upon taking the tests required for surgery, she decided what she wanted her special talent to be, disguise. Thus, her energy-implanting surgery consisted of a bit more than just the spine. She became mostly mechanical. Even her eyes are mostly metal, and can do very strange things. The metal plates beneath her skin can absorb the skin covering it, and she can look much more robotic. Her skin is also more sensitive, so transforming to her more natural state, she feels nearly nothing in the way of pain. She rarely does this simply because of the weird feeling when it happens. Another thing she has learned to master in her training is changing her eye color, hair color, and skin color at will. Chameleon’s hair length and style are simply things she learned while trying to pick up on others. Basically anything necessary to disguise herself, she can do naturally. If she has known someone well for at least six months, she has the capability to basically transform her appearance to mimic theirs. The downfall to this is that it will only last for one half hour, and it drains her energy dramatically, she will literally collapse after that time period for some amount of time typically exceeding two hours. This leaves her incredibly vulnerable. There are also subtle differences between the cloned person and the actual person. Thus, if she is trying to get information from someone who knows the subject too well, they may see through her act.
Speed – Speed is a given, simply because she is a Jialan and naturally lithe. With various martial arts training, she has very muscular legs, giving her more power in running. This is a power of all Jialan people, and nothing special for her. She can run long distances because of her mechanical legs without tire. Endurance and speed give her the power to track someone for quite some time if need be, but it usually will not take long with a Jialan following.
Chaos – Though some may think that her codename comes merely from her chaotic and random nature, in truth it comes from a powerful technique that most will never see. Even if they do, it would be impossible to point any fingers, especially at an “innocent” woman. This power is named for what it can do. Chameleon can bring systems to their natural disorder, quickly rearranging the particles. The most devastating use of this power is a very painful death by decay of every organ in one’s body. It happens extremely fast, but no one would ever want to experience that. However, it can do other simple things like destroy technology, evaporate water, and decay of dead organisms. She also can reverse the process, and naturally organize particles, making someone feel younger.
Resonance – Another power unique to the Jialans has to do with their vocal cords. They can make a strange sound, usually outside of the range a human can hear, and to others it would still be very faint. This sound strikes natural frequency and can cause resonance in a structure of any kind. This is extremely destructive, but only to nonliving things. Chaos is sensitive to the frequencies of objects, easily pinpointing them if she is within range and can determine the composition of the object. Causing destruction is what she is known for, and what her race is known for. Nothing is ever done on a small scale. Collapsing a bridge after it sways past its ability to bend, now that is small destruction.
~Weapons and Equipment:
The Best Friend – A staff that looks like a standard mage’s weapon, but has no power of any kind. Instead, it has a blade concealed in the bottom end than can be activated only with Chaos’ talent of bringing a system to disorder. When she does this to the weapon, the blade shoots out the bottom end, making this a very long weapon.
The Careful Bet – It is a strong birch bow. The total length of the frame is 150-160 cm. When the bow is unstrung, it looks like a semi-circle with a beautifully curvaceous shape, but when a string is attached the whole thing is stretched out so that its limbs are bent inward. Even so, these limbs with string attachments are bent slightly away from the archer, forming a double curve. It is this double curve that delivers explosive acceleration and awesome velocity to the arrow. Her quiver of arrows holds birch arrows that are ninety-five cm in length, and 10 mm in diameter. The fletchings are made of eagle tail feathers. The arrowheads are wide metal blades.
~Skills: Archery and close quarters combat are her specialties, though she prefers having range. Political skills were imprinted in her brain long before she understood their use. She was trained in this for ten years. Technology was never exactly her thing, though she can pick it up pretty quickly because of her roots. It was necessary to learn basic skills with technology and inventions in order to live on her home planet. Chameleon is a seventh degree black belt in Taekwondo and Hapkido. She has had many years to take up different interests and learn many things. These were her favorite martial arts forms through all of her practice. Skilled with kicks and grappling, she will not hesitate to pin you.
~Former training: She trained under Kyo Sah Nim Etai Leyang for four hundred years. He was immortal, Chameleon did not ask how or when. This is how she gained her black belts. Schooling on Jiala involved ten years of physical training and ten years of political training. Certain people were treated differently, but this is how life was for her. Your first two years of physical schooling focused on experiencing every sort of weapon and skill. She quickly chose a bow, and picked up long blades that were not swords as a secondary. Political training was something she excelled in, and leadership was her forte. For thousands of years, 9.4 practiced other abilities, and is always training.
~A Face to Fear~
~Height: 6’1”
~Weight: 160 lbs
~Hair Color: Various colors, but it is typically white.
~Hair Style: Ever-changing. Chaos rarely wears it in the same style more than a few times. That happens when in a simple movement she can grow it out or shorten it as well as change the style dramatically.
~Eye Color: Hazel, but they rarely are that color.
~Play-By: Lady Gaga
~Clothing Style: Everything must have sequins or some other form of outrageous design. Pretty much anything can be turned into clothes with Chameleon. Clothes are one of her favorite things, and that might be a lot of the reason her special power is disguise. Her style gives off her colorful personality, as everything she wears shows true spunk. She usually wears sunglasses, but that has a lot to do with sensitive eyes. Jiala has a misty haze that keeps the sun dimmer than on most planets. Cham gets bad headaches that interfere with her ki when she is exposed to too much sunlight. If she is outside on certain planets for extended amounts of time, it could be extremely dangerous to her health. Completely comfortable moving around in heels, she is constantly found in them, furthering her already tall height. Mainly, she wears tight clothes that move with her body so as not to inhibit movement or weigh her down. Rarely wearing jewelry, 9.4 feels it gets in the way.
~Distinguishing Features: Sunglasses are definitely a big distinguishing feature, alongside her insane wardrobe choices and outrageous hair. However, she can look as plain as she would like if the disguise calls for it, so it is nothing bet your life on. Height is a quality she has above most people, especially when wearing heels. In her current “true form” Chameleon is robotic looking, and the shiny metal is a dead giveaway. She also has a tiny tattoo of a chameleon in crazy detail and a brilliant display of color on the back of her neck. Usually this will be entirely hidden by her hair, but in some disguises it is a way to tell that it is her and not the real person she is disguised as.
~OVERALL APPEARANCE:
This is an interesting section for someone who never looks the same more than twice, and even then, there is some sort of difference always. However, she does have certain stable characteristics that appear in many of her disguises, though it would be impossible for most to know what those are. Chameleon is very tall, with long silken white hair. Yes, her hair is naturally white, which is actually extremely common for Jialans. With so much time to grow her hair, it touches literally to the ground. If it were longer, it would be too much of a hindrance. However, having it this length gives her to ability to make it any shorter length at will. It is almost always straight, just because the texture makes it easier to wear that way. Normal, hazel eyes complete this appearance. Though this is rarely the way she looks, it is the most normal form she takes on.
She is very thin, almost sickeningly so, but it does not seem to affect her, especially since she does not truly need food anymore. Actually, she does not have much of a digestive tract, so if she were to eat, her system would need flushed. Basically, 9.4 avoids eating unless it is absolutely necessary. Most people do not question her if they know a bit more about her physical state. That being said, she has a robotic form which is more protective than skin with nerve endings and everything else. Her skin can dissolve into the strange metal, adapted by others of her race. The metal has a shimmering silver appearance with purple designed on it in strange ancient patterns. When this happens, her hair shortens, and grows strangely from large pores in the metal scalp. Her eyes no longer have the white ring. They are only iris and pupil. The pupil is rather large and dark, the iris is purple with unusual black shapes within the band of purple. There is no need for clothing in this robotic form, as they do not have a normal human appearance. Although they have breasts, they are smooth and rounded, and any reproductive parts are nonexistent.

~Likes:
Adrenaline, analogies, metaphors and synonyms, chemistry, martial arts, racing, disorder, destruction, motorcycles, fast cars, other races, harmony, equilibrium, anything fast, archery, her home planet, leading, the smell of gasoline and red roses
~Dislikes:
Too much organization, silence, peaceful settings, airplanes, flight, death, water, criticism of her many habits, calm music, relaxing, scented candles, sadness, elegance, action without meaning
~Fears:
Death – It has been such a long time since she has contemplated her own death, and the thought is constantly eating at the corners of her mind. Though she knows it is inevitable eventually, it does not at this point seem possible. She is no longer afraid of death alone, having seen so many die. Cham feels she has become desensitized to the idea of it.
Mindless Flesh-eating Creatures – When she was traipsing the universe for a place to make her home, 9.4 stumbled upon a planet called Mars where humans once resided. They have since destroyed many other planets for various reasons, but this planet was destroyed due to an infection. This infection was spread by a bite from another infected. Once infected, the human had a certain amount of time before they would die and return as one of these flesh-eating things. They would only desire human flesh, and no other thought would reside within them. Her biggest fear is action without meaning, and these embody this trait. That is why she fears them. When she went to the planet, very few were uninfected, and she took to learning about their race and history. The humans were stupid, for the most part.
~Weaknesses:
Noise sensitivity – Certain sounds, such as a simple radio waves cause great pain to Aurrie, at times causing her to curl into the fetal position with her hands slammed over her ears. The pain is so great; she feels it throughout her body. This causes her to avoid radios, microwaves, movie theatres, opera, and various other things.
Irrational fear of water – Chameleon cannot swim, at all. She practically refuses to step even a foot into the water for fear of drowning or being eaten. It is ridiculous the lengths she will go to in order to avoid the water.
Inability to reproduce – Unlike normal Jialans, she is unable to have offspring. There are simply no reproductive parts on her body any longer after the surgery installing the metal plates. She was fully aware of this trade-off. However, at a young age she was deemed infertile and told she could never have a child anyway.
Fragility – When she is not in her robot form, she is comparable to a human in defense. She must protect herself in other ways. Her skin is easily cut, but will not bleed as humans’ will. Aurrie is not very strong, as well. In a fight without weapons, she would be easily overtaken. However, give her a bow or a long blade, and the advantage will certainly be hers.
Habits – That is all she knows to call the itching urges that overcome her at most times. Cham has many habits, and has heard from some that it is probably a neurological disorder related to the surgery and brain enhancements. She has not yet come across a better word for what she does. A terrible mimic, she takes traits from people she is around for any significant amount of time. Using analogies is one of these “vocal habits.”
~Strengths:
Aim – Extremely talented with a bow, she clearly has excellent aim. One would be crazy to try and run from a fight when she has that arrow drawn.
Joint-locks/Kicking – Hapkido and Taekwondo are two of her highly practiced martial arts forms. Learning everything she could from her sensei, sucking the information to her brain like a sponge, she has tried over the years to perfect her techniques. These come in handy in a close quarters fight, as she does not have a lot of physical strength.
Leadership – Trained in politics for many years on her home planet, leading an army or area is second nature to Aurrie. She can handle situations in a peaceful manner, but if it comes down to it, she is trained in the art of war. Politics will get one a long way though, and she is always thankful for her background.
Immortality – Due to her insane operation way back when, and the metal parts inserted in replace of other vital parts, 9.4 will virtually live forever. There are ways of ending her life, but she cannot figure out a way yet, unless she were in her abnormal, human-like form. She would be much easier to damage then.
Disguise – Obviously.
~Goals:
1. To gain respect back from the Jialans, and eventually return to her home planet.
2. To peacefully take over various planets in the universe and create an undefeatable league.
3. To overcome her many.. habits.
~Hobbies: Practicing martial arts, archery practice, racing, chemical experiments
~OVERALL PERSONALITY:
A “glowing” personality for an “outstanding” young woman, Aurrie has a tendency to make everything a little bit crazier. Even assassins need a bit more spark in their lives to distract from the constant desire to kill. Of course, her idea of fun is destruction, so it is not much better than the previous hobby of the Eyrie members. She loves speaking with analogies, and uses one with practically everything she says. Perhaps it adds nothing to her speech, but she has done it for so long, it is a definite habit. There are other crazy habits she has, but those are so random and fleeting that there is no specific list that she knows of.
Danger, destruction, daring: Chameleon loves adrenaline and anything she can do to get it. Riding a motorcycle at high speeds, racing around a track at higher speeds, jumping across train cars while moving, anything to get that rush. She gets enjoyment out of seeing things destroyed, watching a building burn to the ground, the fire raging and taking out everything in its path. Diving from a plane, with a parachute of course, cliff-jumping. She will go to any length of carelessness. Some would say it is a physical need for her to have that surge of energy coursing through her body.
Strong and courageous as a leader, she will not hesitate to declare war if a peaceful solution is not reached. Sharp as the tip of her arrows, 9.4 has excessive intelligence giving her the opportunity to succeed in persuading a people to follow her rule. After being forced from Jiala, a lot of that side of her personality has mellowed, and she has become simply loyal to whoever will put a roof above her head. Some may think she’s gone crazy, but she’s the sanest broad you’ll ever meet.
~Rap and History~
~Mother: Marisa Cantanya
~Father: Felipe Cantanya
~Siblings: Seralyn Cantanya (older sister)
Mybel Cantanya (younger brother)
~Other relations: N/A
~Companions: None
~Wanted for: Conspiracy (she was framed), murder, blackmail, arsen, theft
~OVERALL HISTORY:
History is a fickle thing, it changes with each who writes it, and memories are especially similar. Approximately 14,000 years ago, Marisa Cantanya became with child for the second time. She already had a very young daughter, Seralyn, who was incredibly jealous of her mother’s attention to the growing fetus and not her. The pregnancy had many scares, and for fear of miscarriage, Marisa was confined to her bedroom where not even her husband could sit at her bedside. It appeared the child was destroying her, draining all of her previous energy. Through all of this, the baby girl was eventually delivered, though not in a healthy state. A predicted death sometime early on, Aurrie was never meant to have any success. Her heart had many problems, and anytime she would run around and get herself worked up in anyway, she would make it to the emergency room. It was a bad situation. The child was stronger than her defects, though, and she constantly tried to prove herself again Seralyn. That girl just kept moving the bar higher. Aurrie was never too far behind, and she desperately wanted to show that she could be just as strong as her sister. Frail and weak, she went through school quietly, learning everything that she could.
She eventually had a brother named Mybel, and the two were pretty inseparable. The boy was always trying to care for Aurrie, though she grew tired of his effort to help. It made her feel weak and incapable. When the children all came of age, the discussion of surgery came about. Aurrie was twenty years old at the time, and knew the dangers of having ki implanted down her spine. However, she was never meant to make it this long in her life. The dangerous surgery would allow her to live a long and somewhat healthy life, though her parents never knew the extent she would want to have herself changed. The middle child deserved this surgery, much more than the other two children who became terrible with jealousy. Returning home after six long years of preparing for the dangers of implantation, she continued to learn and practice her skills. Almost entirely robotic after the surgery, which skin covering metal plates, she still used her Jialan form most often. During the surgery, she chose a more suitable name for herself, Chameleon V1.0: Aurrie. She knew that she should be thankful for her second chance at life, and tried to appreciate all that was done for her by taking in everything she could of what was taught.
Mybel, her younger brother, fell ill, and within the year, passed away. This drove her mother into depression, and she knew there was no choice for her but to leave. Concentration on schooling was most important to her, and she felt no second should be wasted, regardless of the fact she would now live forever, virtually. Departing from her family was most difficult, and she promised to visit often enough to keep them happy. It was harder than she imagined, remembering to go home when she studied at all hours of the day and some hours of the night in the ways of science, innovation, and peaceful politics. The nighttime hours were spent learning the art of war from people who chose to tutor her out of kindness, for she always seemed so interested in knowing more. Sleep was useless to her now, simply because she would rather spend the time doing other things. Perfecting her uses of ki energy was incredibly important. Everyone around her saw great promise for a true leader for Jiala in her eyes. In the strength she had and the beauty she saw in every single thing.
Years and years of training later, she was General of the Jialan army. For thousands of years, she led them to success in all ways of life. Soldiers were seen doing random acts of kindness to citizens of other planets. They were respectful and helpful always. The reputation of Jiala grew to one they could be proud of. It was a peaceful planet, though none dared to wage war with Jialans, knowing their strength. Some did. Most lost, and there was always a peaceful situation as the battle drew to a close. Loving her life and her knew family, as her real family had long since passed, Aurrie happily led her troops to be the absolute best they could be. One war led to her demise. The planet of Salywv was extremely barbaric and greatly outnumbered the Jialans. They invaded Jiala and captured women and children for slavery. Everyone was terrified. Was this truly a war General Cantanya could lose? With the planet of Jiala facing destruction, one came to its rescue. He reported Aurrie as a traitor, passing information on security and other things to the Salywvens.
Most believed the mysterious man who saved their planet and restored peace once more, and there was council brought together for Aurrie’s punishment. Banishment was perhaps the worst possible thing in her eyes. She never expected them to truly believe it was her, after three thousand years of service on her part. Political sway pulled too hard against her, and the evidence seemed to be there. Tears in her eyes, she left Jiala one final time, knowing she could never return. It was the hardest thing she ever had to do, to leave the place she loved most.
Throughout her journey across the galaxy, she met a wide variety of races and governments, specializing in various things. Trying to learn everything she could from anyone she met, Aurrie picked up on two forms of martial arts, Taekwondo and Hapkido. These seemed the easiest for her, and everything came naturally, for the most part. Hundreds of years of study with Kyo Sah Nim Etai Leyang, and she had high black belts in both arts. It was a great achievement, and something she would practice forever afterward. Each day included meditation and relaxation techniques as well as sharpening her techniques.
There are many other events in her life, but none too terribly important to affect her character. Another thing about her history is that after leaving Jiala, she had a steady decrease in good attributes, lusting for things like destruction and danger. She was not always that way. She picked up on different hobbies to bring on the adrenaline from different peoples. This was her only way of feeling alive and happy, the way she once did on her home planet. A wanderer of the stars and solar systems, Aurrie changed her appearance to fit in each place she went. Doing this helped her learn different styles of dress and hair as well as race specific features. As long as she knew a person well enough, she could basically imitate their features with near perfection. She had always been a mimic, afterall. It had finally come to a use. With her travels, her appearance got a little crazier, her calm nature almost fully destroyed. It was not a terrible transformation, but also did not help her much. Over the years, she had updates to her genetic makeup and the metal plates beneath her skin, making her better at certain skills, as well as strengthening her ki energy. With each update, her version changed. This is the story of the creation of Chameleon V9.4, the robotic woman who was found and taken in by the Herald. She is extremely grateful for his generosity, and tries her best to please him and follow any order he gives.
~Writing Sample~
It was simple to tell by that crazed look in those hazel eyes that Aurrie was about to transform. The situation called for better physical defense, and she was not about to disappoint herself and her fellow assassins by getting killed in that fragile Jialan state. Her irises spun, twinges of vibrant purple here and there mixing through the greenish hue until there was no trace of the previous shade. Black shapes began appear around the pupil as her skin started dissolving into the metal plates behind it. Ugh… that terrible feeling again. The change was enough to make her nauseated, and she closed her eyes to avoid watching the last of her skin seep through the strange metallic substance. She imagined most of those around her had seen enough in their lifetimes not to be disgusted by this simple act, hopefully. However, it was rather odd.
Lifting her chain link armor from the wooden trunk beside her, Chameleon hoisted it over her head. The cool steel felt wonderful against her coating as it rested upon her shoulders. Completing the unusual appearance, her hair shortened and straightened, sticking vertically in all directions from the pores in her head. She certainly was very strange looking in the defensive physical form, but it was her only choice in a battle such as this one. Death by sword or knife was not preferable to the Jialan ex-General, and so she sacrificed beauty for practicality. A hint of a smirk danced on her lips at the upcoming test of their strength and brutality. It was the perfect situation to prove herself to her new allies, an ongoing battle with herself that would always consume her.
“The eve of war is upon us, we must show them the strength of one thousand men with the skill of just one great warrior. Be one, like the arrow perched in a bow, string pulled taut,” her nearly mechanical voice echoed hollowly in the lofty room. It was almost time, and she would give those that fought them hell. Mentally prepping for battle, her mind thought over the previous hours of training. Aurrie knew that she was one with the bow, sharp as her arrow, but were those around her. Or would they stand in her way. If she had it her way, she would lead them into this, giving commands. That was her way. But for now she would stand among them, until it came her time. For now, she would be one with those fighting with her, not against. Her eyes were trained on the door, waiting for some order to begin, ecstatic in her anticipation for chaos.S
