Herald’s Pet Peeves: Things to Look Over Before You Submit
The Archaengels and I prefer to ENJOY reading apps…usually I am excited about new members, as I want the Flock to grow. However, there are a few sure-fire ways to get your app rejected the first time and give me a headache, and until you rectify them, you won’t be accepted. Among them are:
-Fragment sentences. This means sentences without a verb, subject, predicate, or all of the above. They drive me crazy. Examples: Watching for the light. A sunny day. He the gun. That was never ceasing.
-Spelling errors. I am a typo FREAK. Most of you have learned this by now. I assassinate typos like they bring home the bacon. A couple is understandable, but I won’t be happy if the application is riddled with errors.
-Length Requirements. They’re in the template for a reason. We have high standards here, and the length requirements are in place to make sure you’re REALLY thinking about your characters. Ex. You character must have at least 6 likes/dislikes, powers must have FOUR sentences to describe them, History must be THREE paragraphs, ect ect.
-Too powerful. Powers are no fun without limits. Everyone has limits to their powers, even the Herald. We’re not fans of Godmoding here, so if we ask you to scale back your power or add limits to it, please do so (if you want to be accepted, that is). Limits can range to anything from number of uses, physical fatigue/pain when used, conditions where the power is ineffective…ect ect. We like limits. They make for flawed characters, and flawed characters are more developed.
-Description. If something seems like a key element to your character, we want to know about it! This can be anything from a weapon to a certain style of clothing. If you say something is “Mysterious”, well, explain how! Herald dislikes vagueness, so if I feel you could elaborate on something more, I’ll say so.
-Ripoffs. Coincidence is okay, but if I feel something seems too familiar to an already accepted aengel (powers, past, personality, race, ect), I may ask you to change it.
That’s pretty much it. An application must be read by at least two of the admins (myself and an Archaengel, or the Archaengels) before it can even be considered for acceptance. IF an application needs revision, having one admin note the changes (which must be made) is enough for acceptance.
As always, PM me with any questions, “maggots”.
