Because our locations and threads can be so varied at times, I have done away with the traditional date/time stamp that was required at the beginning of topics.
We do, however, still need a way to chronicle threads so we know what action took place when (that way characters are properly affected- injuries, exchanges, deaths, ect). I've come up with a solution to this.
We're running on a new "Chapters" system that DC decided on when we were rebuilding the Eyrie. Chapters are like short story arcs (only without a completely to-the-letter plot to follow). This way, if a member wants a character to have a rather short role in the storyline, he or she can move them along at a good pace without getting bogged down in a day by day situation. The same goes for plot bunnies.
So, to make a long story short (Gen rambles when tired), this is how our timestamp works now.
---
Chapter 1
Part # (the higher the number, the later on it is in your characters developement/plot/lifespan).
Time: (Date, Current Time such as 8:00 PM)
Place:
Weather:
Affiliated Threads: (If this thread is linked with others in a procession, let us know)
He took a shaky breath, then dove.
-----
And ect. The chapter will always match our "current chapter" found on the sidebar. Hope that makes sense! PM me or DC if you have any questions. We no longer require time logs, but feel free to make one if you feel it will help you stay organized. (I'll make a board for them if necessary). Chapter log or not, always make sure to check with your fellow members when starting a thread together to figure out where everyone stands time wise!
Happy writing!
