Culture:

The Shitoki are a prideful and an honorable race, believing that all that they do will reflect upon to those that had raised them. They are also a hardworking people, always thinking of bringing honor upon to their families and their Clans. They are a male dominant race where men are usually held in higher regards than women, but that is only regarding their own race. They will treat outsiders with equal respect when necessary, but most of the races will never interact with an outsider. Most foreigners are only allowed to enter the giant Space colonies that are floating in the middle of space between the planets.

It’s in these space colonies that the majority of the trade and interaction with the rest of the universe takes place. It’s also where all most of the half breeds are located, the children that are half Shitoki or less. To keep their culture pure most half breeds are kept away from the planetary settlements, and although the Shitoki do not shun or look down upon couplings of their people with others from a different race, the children that they have given birth to do not half as many privileges as full blooded individuals. Although they are trained and treated as one of the Shitoki because of their blood, they are mostly restricted to lower ending jobs, believing that their blood has been tainted. Of course there are a few occasions where half bloods have risen in the ranks of the Shitoki, those that have come from higher bloodlines from other races or through hard work and dedication they are recognized as full blooded Shitoki.

There are several clans that make up the Shitoki race, and each have their own fighting styles as well as their own specialties. These clans however are large in number and are more like nations than small collection of people. Each clan has their emblem tattooed onto the person on an area of their choosing.

- Kurotanuki:: (Black Raccoon)

The black raccoon clan is considered one of the largest of all the clans that are within the Shitoki race. Their main specialty is foot soldiers and shock troopers. They excel in training for hand to hand combat and weapon specialists, they favor their ability to use firearms as well as the Katana. They specialize in JuuJutsu, meaning Gun Techniques. it’s a form of martial arts that increase the dodge rating of the user and the accuracy of return fire. They main philosophy of Juu-Jutsu is ‘it takes one bullet to kill’, and thus most masters of Juu-Jutsu excel in close and long range accuracy, usually aiming for the head or throat.

- Akatsuru:: (Red Crane)

One of the brightest and intelligent clans of the Shitoki, the Red Crane are well known among the universe for their brilliant and marvelous weapon and commercial inventions. Although specialized in engineering the Red Crane are also known for their combat abilities with the sword, mostly a One-handed style. The Red Crane is mostly responsible for the technological advancement of the Shitoki Race, and are the ones that designed most of the Ships as well as something known as SAMURAI suits, giant pilot able giant robotic machines. But recently the Red Crane clan has been wiped out due to their plot against the Force.

- Kinbara:: (Golden Flower)

A smaller clan, but currently the ruling clan of the Shitoki people. The Golden Flower houses the current Emperor and Empress of the Empire and is considered the Royal Clan at the moment. It is mostly full of political figures and aristocrats, and although one of the oldest clans in the Shitoki history, they are also formidable fighters with their famous Kendo, two handed katana style.

- Chozakura:: (Little Sakura)

A small clan mostly filled women that specialized in Geisha arts, but unlike the ancestral Geisha’s however, these women are taught in the style of seduction and combat. They are trained to lower the guard of most men and then use their Bladed chain weapons to kill them. On the battle field they are seen adorned in the most beautiful Kimono’s and are regarded as Maidens of Blood. But when they are not slaughtering everyone they relish in their traditional arts of being favored company of men.

- Futagonoryuu:: (Twin Dragon)

An assassination Clan that specializes in stealth and remaining in the cover of darkness. Their main choices of weapons are usually throwing weapons or even sniper rifles. Their style of combat involves quick movements and agility, quick dodges and quick and precise strikes to vital areas.

- Akasaru:: (Red Monkey)

A more of a religious clan, filled with mostly monks and priests of the Shinsoseki. They are a peaceful clan that rather resorts to a peaceful solution than go out in an all out warfare, but when it comes to that they are well versed in combat. Their polearm style fighting is well known with their longer reach and powerful slashes, weapons like the naginata and nagiyato are a formidable weapon in the hands of an Akasaru Monk.

- Gurohabu:: (Black Viper)

An extremely small clan, only consisting of a measly 2000 members. But the Black Viper clan are a well known among all the other clans to be reclusive and secluded from the rest of the people, and for good reason. The black viper clan has a child mortality rate of 90%, and the main cause of that is due to their diet. At young age the Black Viper clan has been feeding their children mild poisons and as they grow older the poisons grow stronger. When they reach to an adult stage they are immune to toxins that attack the body and mind, but the major downfall of that is the fact that they themselves are very toxic. Their blood and even their breath is enough to kill an average man within a few seconds. Even as an infant the breast milk that are fed to them are toxic and thus the high mortality rate. Also to avoid inbreeding in their own clan, poor families from other clans that cannot take care of their own child, or for some reason did not want the child would donate the infant to this clan.

- Aiharu:: (Warm Morning)

A clan that is well versed in medical arts and are considered among the Shitoki to be the best doctors and surgeons. They have made several medical breakthroughs and kept progress on the Shitoki evolution since history began. They are also known for their precise accuracy and are the best archers among the Shitoki.

- Tsunami:: (Tidal Wave)

A clan of seamen, this clan is extremely well versed in the art of water travel and underwater combat. They are great commanders for the naval fleets as well as pilots for the Shitoki underwater combat vessels. They have a unique ability to read water currents and predict the changes in the water itself. In hand in hand they are able to fight very well with spears.

- Sanmaki:: (Triangle Whirlpool)

Another clan that is well versed in the ways of the water, and specializes in the art of breathing underwater. They are able to hold their breath for long amounts of time and are stronger swimmers than most. They also are very well trained in using harpoons and spears.

- Tsubaki:: (Camellia)

A clan that is well known to have the best musicians and singers. Their sweet sound of their instruments and their tantalizing voices are known to capture people’s attention and entrap them in a divine hymn. In combat they use their instruments and voices in a similar effect to entrance their targets or empower their own, and although not a strong fighting clan they only are able to fight with daggers.

History:

The Shitoki race came to be when the Japanese race refused the globalization of the planet of Earth, the human homeland. To preserve their culture and their way of life they separated themselves and traveled the expanse world of space to find a home suitable for human life. There they found a system in which to call their own. Colonizing the planets within a few short years, they were able to establish their foothold into the universe. Although it was quick it wasn’t without its own perils.

Abandoning their home world and traveling into the expanse of space brought thousands upon thousands of casualties among the people. Many died in the voyage alone, and even in the colonization they lost even more. But the dedication and steadfast manner of the people pushed towards the end. Calling themselves Japanese soon grew old for them, wanting a fresh start for their new culture and race. They chose the name Shitoki, in translation it meant ‘Master of their own path, led by the spirit of past’, a fitting for a culture that went through an ordeal to keep their culture and independence.

It wasn’t long after the colonization that the people began to separate according to their families and loyalties. Government parties taking claim to territories and areas, resources and living space. People loyal to those parties joined them and created their own countries, and within a few decades, civil war broke out.

Clans had been formed and began to create new ways of war and fighting, and being human, they were a self-destructive race, warring amongst themselves for the resources of the worlds. The 1000 year war was long, brutal and produced many casualties. But out of that, their technological development flourished, their bodies changed as long as their longevity. Many more clans developed out of the chaos and there was diversity among the Shitoki people. With their population growing more and more, they developed space colonies, giant cylinders floating in space near orbit of the main planet of Shuren.

These colonies were another engineering marvel, and each was able to support millions of people within them. Self-sufficient, they were able to produce energy, food, and even water by themselves and didn’t need massive imports of resources to maintain them.

With their expansive population, they grew into a powerful empire with a vast military. They were able to stay their independence for a while, even as the 200 year war with the Force began. Initially they stayed true to their Shitoki nature and refused to subjugate themselves to the Force, but as soon as they found defeat after defeat they reluctantly bowed their heads to the superior forces.

Government:

The Shitoki people are governed by a single elected clan, and among the clan its head chief or daimyo is chosen to become the emperor of the people of Shitoki. Every 50 years all the clans come together to have a democratic decision on who should run the empire, and whoever is chosen has unquestionable authority. The Emperor’s word is law and to break it is considered treason. Of course this has sprouted in several assassination attempts on the various leaders, not to mention a few coup’ attempts from smaller clans but in the majority this type of government has maintained the way of life of the Shitoki people.

Each clan also have an elected a leader to lead their clan and their specialties. Since every one of the Shitoki race is trained in combat, it is not uncommon for the clan’s strongest fighter to assume the role of Daimyo. The clan leader is questioned only when the leader has disgraced the clan, or has become too old to lead. It is also not uncommon for the oldest son of the Daimyo to take over the position when it comes to the passing of the current one.

Religion and Beliefs:

Due to the fact that keeping their honor, and to bring greater honor to their family can clans, the Shitoki people are firm believers in the afterlife spirit of their ancestors. They believe that the spirit of the ancestors watch over them and even turn into forms of animals or objects to aid and protect them. To bring honor to those past ancestors are a ritual that is commonly practiced among the poor to the rich. There are several shrines that have been erected around the planets to house such beings of the afterlife.

They also believe that more powerful and renowned ancestors have gained the status of gods, bending elements and the world to their will, even bestowing their power on certain individuals in the heat of battle, protecting them and guiding their attacks to strike down their enemies.

Biology:

Biologically Shitoki aren’t that much different from humans. The only difference is the rate that energy is consumed and used. Shitoki are able to burn sugars within the body at a much faster rate than a normal human, enabling them to have bursts of incredible amounts of energy, but the amount of sugars burned is similar to a human. Also their receptive organs, such as hearing and sight are faster in electrical charges than a normal human, also their adrenaline glands are also enlarged.

Those points have evolved beyond normal human capabilities, enabling the Shitoki for bursts of speed and reaction. Besides from the racial trait, there are still other capabilities that several clans of Shitoki are capable of that others are not, but that is required through training and isn’t part of their biology.

Powers and Abilities:

- Blink: A semi-teleportation technique that is utilized by the Shitoki’s enhanced speed and reflex, it enables the user to move at extreme speed almost instantly by sending a burst of energy to their muscles for launch and another counter burst when they want to stop. Each movement is limited to a range of 5 meters and can only be used once per 30 seconds. But this ability comes with its own risks, as every time they ‘Blinks’ their heart stops beating. Using this ability too many times in a short amount of time can result in a bleeding, Cardiac arrest, and ultimately death. Because this is not a real teleport but an extreme speed movement, the user is still limited by their surroundings. They are still able to trip, slip, stumble and because they are moving with such speed, if they stumble without intending to stop they can kill themselves by hitting a wall or another hard object.

- Fast Reflex: The Shitoki are known for the innate ability to react quickly almost instantly, and utilizing their quick reflexes to spot and counter attack. This heightened sense can only be triggered with adrenaline, and is not always active.
